Songwriter Ed Sheeran reveals he didn’t write “Love Yourself” for Justin Bieber. One of the biggest success and best songs in 2016. Sheeran said he wrote the song with his own album in mind, but then Bieber took it and ‘did his thing on it’.

Sheeran explained that ‘Love Yourself’ could never been released, but thanks to the young superstar that song became a biggest success. The song became the number #1 in Billboard the whole year too. The song was nominated for the Grammy’s in the category Song of The Year.

Also, the songwriter said the song could have died in the darkness without Justin and it would never be the most successful song from the album Purpose. He also said we’re sure Bieber ain’t mad of how the thing came to be.   

The name of the upcoming album of Ed Sheeran is ‘Divide’ and he thinks the song ‘Love Yourself’ didn’t have a place on it. He also said in an interview that there’s no date release for it, but “very soon” it will be out to the market and also, new songs will come out in short time.

It wasn’t the first time for Ed Sheeran

It wasn’t the first time that the British singer worked together in the music area with Bieber. He had an important role in another one great hit of Bieber in 2016. The collaboration between Major Lazer and Justin for the song ‘Cold Water’. Ed had a history from this experience, because he didn’t realize he had written other success to Biebs.

Sheeran said ‘Cold Water’ was a surprise for him too, he didn’t even know that song existed. Sheeran wrote the half of the song in the Benny Blanco’s house meanwhile he was writing other ones. Then he had a mail from Diplo saying the ‘Cold Water’ was a great song and also a great success. The British had no idea of what song he was talking about and didn’t reply.

And suddenly Diplo said that Justin wanted to work with the song. Then Ed realized that ‘Cold Water’ became in number one, in that moment he knew what was the song, he remembered hearing it and thought ‘That kind of sounds like me. Oh wait, it was me’.

What is certain is that the musical successes will continue. Both for Bieber and for Sheeran. Releasing soon his new album ‘Divide’, the red hair will reach the number one of every musical lists and tops. He will conquer new prizes. However, Ed will continue with his duty writing songs, making successes and not only for Bieber but for the main stars of music.

Sheeran also revealed in the interview he had in the 97.1 Radio with Carson Daly that without the participation of Bieber, the song would not have been a total success.
